Motema is a place where people who love African dance and culture meet up to learn and share their moves, rhythms, and energies. Why Motema? Motema means "Heart" in Lingala and in everything we do we bring our love for dancing and passion for sharing with others. We believe everyone was born with their own rhythm, here you will learn how to shape your moves to the beat of your heart within the different music played. Motema is a movement, we offer a variety of Afro Dance classes inlcuding Afrobeat, Ndombolo, Soukous, Kwasa-Kwasa, Afrohouse, AmaPiano and Central-African traditional dance forms. All classes are open to dancers of all levels, no experience needed! Motema offers afro dance shows for all kinds of events and regularly organises workshops, masterclasses and more with amazing African dance teachers from around the world.

The Heart of Motema
Motema Afro is a movement powered by Steven "El Fantastico" Banzoulou, a Congolese born artist who has traveled the continent and the world exploring the depths of African dance from traditional styles to the modern afrobeat phenomenon that has taken the world by storm. Steven is a graduate of the famous "Ecole des Sables" dance school in Senegal, he is a choreographer, an educator and is passionate about spreading his knowledge of dance and culture around the world.
If you have ever met El Fantastico you will know where the name comes form! Steven's classes are non-stop energy and students do not only grow as dancers but as human beings.
